Position Overview: Store Assistant
The Store Assistant supports daily store and warehouse operations by ensuring the accurate handling, storage, and distribution of materials. Working under the direction of the Storeman and Logistics Officer, the role contributes to inventory accuracy, compliance with company procedures, and smooth logistics operations. The position is critical to maintaining efficiency, safety, and service quality across warehouse and storage facilities.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Receiving and Inspection

Assist in unloading, checking, and recording incoming goods, including spare parts, HAZMAT materials, and petroleum, liquids, and oils (POL)

Verify quantities and quality against delivery notes and purchase orders

Report shortages, damages, or discrepancies promptly to the Logistics Team

Support cross-site logistics functions across internal and external storage locations
Storage and Organization

Ensure correct labeling, racking, and placement of materials in designated storage areas

Maintain organized storage systems for efficient access and retrieval

Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and other inventory rotation practices
Issuing and Dispatch

Assist in issuing materials and HAZMAT items against approved requisitions

Prepare items for dispatch with accurate documentation

Support safe packaging and securing of materials for transport
Inventory Control and Support

Update stock records in ERP systems (Oracle) under supervision

Assist with cycle counts, reconciliations, and audit preparation

Monitor stock levels and inform the Storeman of low or critical inventory
Compliance, Safety, and Housekeeping
Safety and compliance are central to this role. The Store Assistant must adhere to QHSE, COSHH, and company safety standards, maintain clean and hazard-free storage areas, and use appropriate PPE when handling sensitive or hazardous materials. The role also involves basic risk assessments related to storerooms and logistics activities, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
Qualifications and Skills Required

Academic Qualification: High School Certificate or Diploma

Professional Knowledge: Basic understanding of SAP or Oracle systems

Experience: Minimum 2–3 years in warehouse or storage facility operations
